Sacrifice, persistence, and passion are demanded of those wanting to excel. But beyond just hard work, an optimistic attitude and friendly demeanor can also help shape your career. Ryan Huffman, the founder of Huffman Creative, a Los Angeles-based video production studio, contributes his success to such things.
Growing up in San Diego, Ryan discovered an ambitious passion for filmmaking at the age of 10 when he began making stop-motion short films with his twin brother, Austin. What was a fun and casual daytime activity for both boys became a keen interest for Ryan. He’d become more committed to filmmaking and participated in clubs and production classes throughout high school. Upon graduating, Ryan enrolled in Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. After earning a degree in Creative Producing, Ryan moved to Los Angeles and began working as an Associate Producer for National Geographic on their show, “Showdown of the Unbeatables.”
Not long after, Ryan became a full-time producer for Sean “Diddy” Combs’ entertainment music television network, Revolt TV. Joining the team behind the network’s live music news segment, Revolt Live, Ryan wrote and produced two episodes every week for two years. The fast-paced and meticulous live entertainment production taught Ryan a strong problem-solving skillset and, eventually, projected him away from Revolt and into the career of a freelance producer.
As a freelance producer, Ryan produced over 150 projects across music, advertising, and film. Through this experience, he established indispensable relationships, efficient workflows, and an expert understanding of production management. After a few years of freelancing for various companies, Ryan made the leap of faith to launch a production company of his own.
Huffman Creative was founded in the summer of 2020. Ryan’s disciplined approach, optimistic mindset, and problem-solving abilities were vital to building a business that is now a leader in its field. Ryan and his new team’s passion for excellence attracted collaborations with top-notch directors, such as Colin Tilley and Andrew Donoho, and chart-topping musicians, like Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake. The company has also created successful campaigns for brands like Nike, Netflix, and Audi.
Huffman Creative’s achievements have been recognized by the industry, with nominations for the MTV VMA and Clio Awards. In 2023, their video for Kane Brown’s “Thank God” won the Video of the Year prize at the Country Music Television (CMT) Awards, further supporting the company’s reputation for outstanding work.
The journey of Ryan Huffman is proof of the transformative power of a positive attitude and a commitment to your deepest interests. When you treat yourself and others with respect, are consistent, and believe in the outcome, anything is possible. Despite all that Ryan and Huffman Creative has achieved, he believes it’s only the beginning. Ryan plans to expand Huffman Creative by creating and supporting the production of long-form content, like feature films and television series. 2023, for both Ryan and Huffman Creative, is on course for new heights.
