Many believe that business acumen is something you either possess or do not; it’s not a skill you can learn. At least that’s what we thought until Nathan Sharma, the COO of NIWE Academy, showed us otherwise. According to Nathan, business acumen is a combination of knowledge and skills informed by experience. He believes that as long as someone has sufficient knowledge and the confidence to take action, informed by past experiences, they can thrive in the business world.
After helping his family business turn into a multimillion-dollar corporation, Nathan has been assisting young entrepreneurs in their journey to build a successful business. Nathan believes that emerging entrepreneurs lack the mentorship required to help them maneuver through the big business risks. He aims to provide experience-based knowledge to these individuals, and wishes to invoke an overall learning process that is fueled by the commitment to excel, with self-awareness and passion. To help achieve this goal, Nathan has been working on developing a learning management system that shall allow him to guide individuals through multiple online courses.
Since starting his career in the business world, Nathan has witnessed the lack of experience-based learning in mentorship. He believes this knowledge is essential in making decisions, solving problems, and overcoming barriers. Hence, he has taken it upon himself to impart entrepreneurial wisdom to emerging business owners.
At the age of 24, Nathan has not only helped his family business achieve milestone after milestone, but he has also been helping business owners achieve their goals by providing them guidance at every step of the way. His efforts have been acknowledged and appreciated by his peers all over Canada, and if that doesn’t testify to the significance of his entrepreneurial impact, we’re not sure what else will.
A few business tips Nathan swears by and imparts to others include following a set routine, abiding by your schedule, and discipline and clarity. To Nathan, conquering your fears is half the work you need to do to succeed. He suggests that the best way to overcome fears is by setting attainable goals and, most importantly, having patience. Rest assured, these are not empty words: Nathan speaks from experience and he does not want others to have to suffer the same way he did.
